Awaken your wild side

We collaborate with some business partners and suppliers while on safaris and have a few friends who also provide us with some tip top equipment.

If you would like to work with us or would like us to test and market your equipment, please contact us.

We urge you to support local businesses, rural markets and reliable tradesmen.
If you need a contact or aid finding something in areas we operate (mechanics, hospitals, breakdown assistance etc), feel free to contact us and request help.

We're happy to also receive recommendations, invitations and feedback.

Here is an important list of tourism lodges in Malawi we frequent and support.

We work with businesses all around Southern Africa and they play a key role in our success (and sanity). All important connections; lodges, campsites, restaurants, markets, roadside food stalls, money exchangers, advice-offering bushmen, willing villagers who run out and bat crocodiles away while we change a tyre, national park concessions and unshamefully, bars. We need the regular resbites, refuelling stations and enjoyable social-rechargers after the long periods we spend off grid. If you can't contact us through direct means, the folk at the above locations might know where we are.

Mechanics and Garages: Vital to our survival!

Number one on our list of emergency mechannics is our very own Puncque! Normally based in Lilongwe. You can contact him through us. Email for details.

In Lilongwe, Malawi, we use Magombo Motors. Their english is not too great, but you can ask us for their best contact, or go direct (they don't respond to emails very well): This email address is being protected from spambots. There is nothing flash about these guys, but if you're desperate, they'll make a plan! They're very reasonable on price and often go the extra mile to get the job done. Multiple services available: mechanics, welding, electrical, upholstery and they can organise minor paintwork through their "neighbours".

If you're going through Maun and need your car working on - we always find these guys something to do, and they do it very well!

- Better than the commercial garages! Located opposite Midus, off the main drag, round the back.

Clothing and Accessories

We've acquired some tip top equipment which we wouldn't disappear into the wilds without.

unnamed

A vital piece of equipment on ALL our trips; Tarphat have provided us with some excellent barnet coverings! We like the strength, durability, rustic look and the upcycled materials they use which would otherwise end up as waste. The staff have been extremely helpful, personable and supportive of Go Untamed and we can't thank them enough. They have delivered some fine hats which we use every, single, day...and not always on our heads!

As a side note, we must mention that Tarphat.co.uk are different to those other tarphat providers around the world. Vitally, they use rustproof eyelets and other beneficial materials which you just don't get with say, the tarphat company in the USA.

The guys at Tarphat UK also used to live in South America, where they support charitable water projects. Nothing beats hands on experience and time spent in the areas you feel passionate about! We encourage their business model which supports local communities and we recommend you give their products go.

We also have a long list of other vital equipment which never leaves our vehicle, our pockets, our backpacks, or our belts.
If you have any questions or would like some recommendations on what to use while you're either on a trip with us or in some other wilderness or urban jungle, feel free to get in touch. We are happy to share what we think is useful and like to discuss our useful trinkets!
